27th July 2013, 12.30pm until
28th July 2013, 12.30pm

Kundalini Yoga Manchester organised a 24 hour Japa Mediation (Japa = the repetition of a mantra) in support of Barnabus, a charity caring for the homeless, and an International Children’s camp. We collectively raised £ 1,252 in total. Donations were received through our website and through http://www.justgiving.com/KundaliniYogaManchester24hMediation
About The Meditation
In ancient cultures the recitation of a mantra or Japa was an opportunity to achieve inner peace and harmony by clearing the subconscious. The repetition of a mantra is the perfect tool for braking old patterns, letting go of pain and suffering, healing old and new wounds. Meditating in a group releases healing energies that is capable of contributing to the healing of the planet and humanity. No previous meditation experience is required.
The Organisation:
Participants were divided into three groups. While the recitation of the mantra itself was unbroken, the three groups took shifts in reciting it. One shift lasted for 90 minutes.

What participants said about the event
WOW! What an amazing experience! Having never done anything like this before, never ever chanted or been a part of a charity event like this, I was completely blown away! The energy in the room was absolutely amazing. I must admit, I was a little nervous as I find it very hard sitting down for even 10 minutes still as I have back and neck injuries, I also don’t normally have much energy at all. That all changed when I walked in that room! Really, I was in a bit of a mental and physical mess when I came to this meditation and I can tell you something massive has happened. Have been suffering with anxiety attacks and feeling very high and very low recently but this has changed too...
I still (It is now Wednesday) feel a really nice sense of calm. I haven’t had any stressful thoughts or feelings and things that would normally make me feel anxious and angry/sad /stressed I just don’t. It is really great! I feel amazing! My boyfriend is wondering what medication I have been given!
Physically, I have been very sick. Sunday, I had hardly any voice, I was very tired and rested the rest of the day once I got home. Monday I got ready for work, walked to the tram and realised I wasn’t OK. Walked straight back home and was sick. Have been really ill Monday and Tuesday. I had been constipated for a while and am not anymore. This was meant to happen! I am feeling much better today and feel like that illness was me getting rid of something. I really needed a spring clean!
In that room when we were chanting the vibrations were soo powerful, it was amazing! My whole body was buzzing. I did have to move a little as my legs were getting sore but other than that it was such an uplifting experience! You could really feel the power of the Mantra when everyone got in sync with each other, we started clapping our hands and tapping on the floor, encouraging us to raise our voices and by this point, you are soo full of energy you don’t want to leave the room, then 4 more voices come in to join with the drum as well. WOAH! Felt like chanting all night then! I did! All night and still am, in my head.
Ek ong kaar, sat naam, karataa purakh, nirbho, nirvair, Akaal moorat, ajoonee saibhang, gur prasaad. Jap! Aad such, jugaad such, Hai bhee such, Naanak hosee bhee such
Thank you soo much for allowing me to be a part of this truly magical event! I am soo happy that we all received something beautiful from this, I too have met some amazing people and to top it off all the money raised makes it even more worth it, WE MADE A DIFFERENCE!
Well done everyone! Love and Light , Brontie xxx
